Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is an upcoming game in the Grand Theft Auto series by Rockstar Games. The company first announced work on it on February 4, 2022. On November 8, 2023, Sam Houser, president and executive producer of Rockstar Games, announced the release of the GTA 6 trailer in early December.
The exact release date of the first trailer - December 5 at 9AM ET - was announced on December 1, but a leak caused it to appear online on the night of December 4-5, forcing the company to release it early.
From the trailer we learned that the action of the game is set in Vice City and State of Leonida, which are analogs of the city of Miami and the state of Florida, respectively. The plot will revolve around the criminal duo of Lucia and her partner Jason.
GTA 6 is scheduled for release in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
GTA 6 Release Date
The GTA 6 will be released in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version will probably be released at a later date, so far there has been no word about it.

Lucia
Lucia is a criminal of Hispanic origin, one of the main characters of GTA 6. In the 2020s, she is serving a sentence at the Leonida State Correctional Institution, where social worker Stefanie deals with her.

Jason

Stefanie is one of the characters in GTA 6. She supposedly holds the position of a social worker at the Leonida Department of Corrections.
The first trailer shows Stephanie in her office having a conversation with the then-incarcerated protagonist Lucia.

Leonida State is a U.S. state and the main location of GTA 6, the gaming counterpart of the state of Florida in the southeastern United States.

Announcement and Development
Internet was filled with various "rumors and leaks" about GTA 6 long before its official announcement, and from time to time oil was poured into the fire by prominent journalists, such as Jason Schreier and Tom Henderson, as well as dataminer Tez2 and many others. The main source of information, however, was the massive leak of GTA 6 gameplay that took place on September 18, 2022.

What is known about GTA 6 now

Map Size. The area of the map will not yield to the size of GTA 5, but rather surpass it already at release. It is expected that the map of GTA 6 will be the most elaborate in the series of GTA games. With the release of add-ons may appear new locations.
Let's specify that in GTA 5 the land area is ~50 km2, water ~60 km2.

Censorship. Nowadays it's hard to imagine a new game with the same level of satire as before. Part of the modern public will not appreciate the humor and may sue the company. Hence the assumption that Rockstar Games will have to smooth the edges to avoid unnecessary problems.
Our speculations
Here will be listed our expectations for GTA 6.
Vehicle physics. The overwhelming success of GTA 5 is unlikely to motivate Rockstar to make driving vehicles much more difficult. We hope at least for something between GTA 4 and GTA 5: that the ride remains dynamic, but at the same time added realism.
GTA Online. We believe that in the near future GTA Online will receive less new content, but its support in one form or another will definitely continue.
Virtual Reality. It's great if GTA 6 will be playable in VR. This will be a new level of immersion in the game world. Such an opportunity may not appear immediately, and may not appear at all.
Cities. I would like that in addition to Vice City in the new part appeared already familiar to us cities: Liberty City, Las Venturas, San Fierro, Los Santos, and maybe Carcer City from Manhunt, because it is in the same universe with GTA. Ideally, new cities should appear gradually with updates.
GTA 6 Failure
There is an opinion that GTA 6 may not be the best game in the series, and the reason for this is called the dismissal of several significant figures from Rockstar Games. So, in January 2016 it became known about the departure of Leslie Benzies from the position of president of the studio Rockstar North.
And in February 2020, the parent company of Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, announced the departure of Dan Houser, co-founder, chief writer and creative vice president of Rockstar Games. A little later, in April 2020, producer and writer Lazlow Jones left the company. This name may be familiar to you, as the GTA games feature a character of the same name, voiced by Lazlow himself.
All of the above worked at Rockstar Games for a long time and created the Grand Theft Auto series, Red Dead Redemption and more. Whether this will affect the innovative ideas in the future game, only time will tell.
On the other hand, old people leave, new people come, and it's a normal process. If we follow the principle of "there are no irreplaceable", then nothing terrible happened.
