Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI, GTA 6) is an upcoming game in the Grand Theft Auto series from Rockstar Games, scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The game will take place in Vice City and the State of Leonida, with the storyline revolving around a criminal duo of Lucia and her partner Jason.

Massive speculation surrounded GTA 6 long before its official announcement, fueled by widespread rumors and leaks among players. The main source of concrete information was the massive leak of GTA 6 gameplay on September 18, 2022, where players could view the game’s characters, vehicles, and locations for the first time.
The first official sign of GTA 6 from Rockstar Games came on February 4, 2022, when the studio confirmed that a new installment of the Grand Theft Auto series was in active development. A few months later, on July 7 of the same year, Rockstar noted that they had been steadily moving more resources and staff toward the next GTA project, aiming to exceed players’ expectations and make the upcoming installment the best it could possibly be.
On November 8, 2023, Sam Houser, president of Rockstar Games, announced that the first trailer for the game would be released in early December. The exact date — December 5, 2023, 9AM ET — was confirmed on December 1, and alongside it Rockstar published the first official GTA 6 artwork.
The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI ultimately appeared online on the evening of December 4, 2023, earlier than planned, following another leak. It officially revealed the game’s full title and confirmed that the story would be set in Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida, centering on a criminal duo — Lucia and Jason.
According to the first trailer, the game was originally scheduled for release in 2025. However, on May 2, 2025, Rockstar Games announced that it had been delayed, setting a new release date of May 26, 2026. A few days later, on May 6, the second trailer was released, alongside a major update to the official GTA 6 website, which introduced new information about the characters, story, and locations, accompanied by screenshots, video clips, and artwork.
On November 6, 2025, Rockstar Games announced another delay, pushing the release date to November 19, 2026. The studio added that they were sorry for the extended wait, stating that “these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

The events of GTA 6 take place in the state of Leonida, which stretches along the Atlantic coast across beaches, wetlands, forests, and fertile plains.
The state is known for its attractions, amusement parks, golf resorts, and nature reserves, as well as its bustling cities, highways, and major port hubs that drive commerce and travel.

Leonida Keys is a tropical archipelago where life is easy and carefree.
The dress code is casual, the drinks are endless, the scenery around is boundless, but not as safe as it might seem.
Grassrivers
The swamplands of Grassrivers hide many surprises beneath the water's surface.
It's easy to encounter an alligator here, but even more extreme encounters can happen in the mangrove thickets.
Port Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn was once a popular tourist destination, but now you can only see cheap motels, closed amusement parks, and empty shopping malls.

Ambrosia
Ambrosia is the heart of Leonida, a stronghold of American industry and conservative views.
The residents work at the Allied Crystal sugar factory, and the local biker gang supplies them with almost everything else.
Mount Kalaga
Mount Kalaga is a national nature park on the northern border of the state. It's a favorite spot for hunters, fishermen, and travelers.
The surrounding forests are home to rural mystics and paranoid radicals seeking to hide from the intrusive attention of authorities.
Characters
Jason Duval
Jason's childhood was spent among scammers and con artists, and he joined the army to redeem his sins. Later, fate brought him to the Keys, where he began working for local drug couriers.
Meeting Lucia became an important event in his life. In their thirst for easy money, the couple gets involved in a criminal conspiracy that they'll have to navigate together.
Lucia Caminos
Lucia's father taught her to fight from an early age, and her life has been a struggle ever since. Trying to help her family, she ended up behind bars, but thanks to luck, she managed to get free.
Lucia learned her lesson and won't make the same mistakes again. She's set aside empty dreams of a comfortable life and is now working to make them a reality.
Brian Heder
Brian witnessed the golden era of drug trafficking in the Keys and continues to be involved in it to this day, moving product through his boat station along with his third wife, Lori, though others now handle the dirty work for him.
He let Jason stay in one of his houses for free in exchange for help collecting money from tenants and sharing sangria that Lori makes.
Cal Hampton
Cal is Jason's friend who also works with Brian. He loves staying home, getting paranoid, drinking beer, eavesdropping on coast guard radio communications, and browsing through his private browser window.
He's at the bottom of the social ladder and likes it there.
Raul Bautista
Raul is an experienced robber, and each of his subsequent heist plans becomes more daring. He's constantly looking for accomplices who are ready to risk everything for a big score.
The ever-increasing risks will one day put Raul's team before a choice — to go all-in or quit the game.
Boobie Ike
Boobie is a living legend of Vice City. Once an ordinary street dealer, he now owns an entire financial empire, with assets including real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio.
Additionally, he entered into a partnership with promising music entrepreneur Dre'Quan as part of the Only Raw Records label, and now they just need a hit.
Dre'Quan Priest
Dre'Quan used to sell drugs on the street to make a living, but he always dreamed of a music career.
He signed a contract with Real Dimez and is determined to conquer the Vice City music scene, so someone else will probably have to find artists to perform at Boobie's strip club.
Real Dimez
Bae-Luxe and Roxy have been friends since school. They used to extort money from local dealers, and now they describe their past life in rap compositions and regularly post on social media.
The girls recorded a hit single with local rapper DWNPLY, which helped Real Dimez reach a new level. After five years and many misadventures, they were signed by Only Raw Records.
