Sony has officially stated that Grand Theft Auto VI will "play best" on PlayStation 5 — a marketing agreement with Rockstar Games has been revealed alongside the confirmation of the $80 price and the imminent start of pre-orders. In the PlayStation Blog, the company highlighted the key features of the PS5 version, and the game's page on the PlayStation Store confirmed the presence of enhancements for the PS5 Pro. However, for now, this is just a badge on the store page — what specific enhancements the game will receive on the PS5 Pro, Sony and Rockstar have not disclosed.
Through close collaboration between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI will play best on PS5, leveraging the console's immersive capabilities to create a deeply engaging single-player experience when the game launches on November 19.
Sony notes that GTA 6 will utilize the console's signature hardware features: the DualSense's haptic feedback with adaptive triggers and enhanced vibration, sounds from the controller's built-in speaker, support for Tempest 3D Audio technology, and "near-instant loading" thanks to the high-speed SSD. Specific details of the enhancements for the PS5 Pro are not disclosed — neither Sony nor Rockstar have yet clarified how exactly the game will run on the enhanced version of the console.
PS5 puts you at the center of the game world: the wireless DualSense controller responds to your actions and brings the sights, sounds, and sensations of Jason and Lucia's story right into your hands. Haptic feedback offers responsive vibrations, and adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance, adding physical weight and tension to every action you take. The controller's built-in speaker adds another dimension to key moments and interactions.
With Tempest 3D AudioTech technology, you can immerse yourself in the unique soundscapes of Leonida. From the streets of Vice City to events unfolding across the state, this ultra-precise audio positioning enhances your perception, helping to bring the world around you to life in the most authentic way.
Sony's wording deserves special attention: the company again calls GTA 6 a "single-player experience," which indirectly confirms that GTA Online may not be available at launch. Earlier, Digital Foundry specialists suggested that the game will likely run at 30 frames per second on both the base PS5 and the PS5 Pro — due to the peculiarities of Rockstar's engine, which traditionally puts a heavy load on the central processor.
Earlier we reported that GTA 6 pre-orders open on June 25 — the game will be available in two editions, and for early orders you will receive the exclusive Vintage Vice City pack.
