LOVE magazine has put GTA 6 on the cover of Issue 27. It shows Jason and Lucia under the line "America's Most Wanted", in artwork Rockstar created for the magazine.

Inside is a long feature on the game's characters and world: a decade of world-building in Leonida, what the American Dream looks like now, and why, in a world this dense, no one you meet is an extra. LOVE spoke with Rob Nelson, Co-Studio Head and Head of Development at Rockstar North, Rupert Humphries, Senior Vice President of Narrative, and game writers Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern and Alexa D'Agostino. The magazine shared quotes and new images on Instagram on October 2, and the issue went on sale on October 5.

Key takeaways

GTA 6, Official, Artwork, Jason, Lucia, pickup, black and white
  • Twenty-eight years into the series, Lucia Caminos is the first playable female protagonist with a voice, backstory and leading dialogue.
  • Lucia wants a better life and won't let anything stand in her way. Jason is her opposite: a man whose circumstances keep making his decisions for him.
  • Rockstar describes the story as a Bonnie and Clyde-style narrative.
We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other. That's what we felt made them authentic, and a great team.

Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern, game writer at Rockstar

  • "When you are focusing on writing a fully realised person with their own wants, you're going to get something perfectly imperfect — with clichés, but also undeniably real," adds game writer Alexa D'Agostino.
  • Humphries describes a state where astronomical wealth meets unbounded ambition as "a pressure cooker for all kinds of insanity."
If you are going to put all this effort into creating a version of today's world, it has to be more over the top, more insane, more in your face. Otherwise, you could just go outside and live in the real world.
—

Rupert Humphries, Senior Vice President of Narrative at Rockstar

  • According to outlets that have read the issue, Humphries suggests the American Dream has become more modest — a home for your family and paid-off debts — a tension that plays out most clearly in Miami and South Florida.
  • Pre-orders through distributor KD Presse reportedly sold out within minutes. The issue is on sale at newsstands and bookstores worldwide, and LOVE has posted a list of stockists on its profile.
We hope people will want to escape into these worlds and these characters. To get lost with them and in them.
