South Park shows new GTA 6 gameplay

Jason hits a beachgoer with a bag of dog poop on a Vice City beach

~ 3 minreading time

A new South Park episode showed 17 seconds of GTA 6 gameplay. It’s the fourth episode of season 29, “Guinea Pig on a Stick,” which aired on October 28 on Comedy Central. The footage is real: the credits read “Grand Theft Auto VI footage courtesy of Rockstar Games, Inc.,” so the clip came to the show from the studio itself.

Before this, Rockstar last showed new gameplay in late August, at a closed press preview. Neither Rockstar nor Comedy Central has posted the clip separately; above is a recording with commentary from YouTuber Will Mac.

What was shown

Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Randy Marsh sit at a table, and a woman who knows more about the game than anyone else plays a video for them on the TV.

Footage: South Park, Comedy Central.

  • a crowded Vice City beach: beachgoers have different body types, and footprints stay in the sand
  • a dog does its business, and the owner bends down to clean up after it
  • Jason throws something at the owner, who turns toward him
  • Jason picks up the bag of dog poop and hits the man over the head with it
  • third-person camera, minimap in the corner
It’s a dog. Taking a poop. And people can pick up the dog poop. And if they choose to fight back, you can pick up the dog poop and actually attack them with dog poop.

Character from the “Guinea Pig on a Stick” episode

Journalists had already described the mechanic after the August screening: hit someone cleaning up after a dog and they drop the bag, which you can then pick up and throw at someone else. Now it can actually be seen. Cartman, of course, is delighted.

GTA 6, the running joke of the season

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are airing season 29 under the title South America, a parody of the Trump administration renaming places like the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. GTA 6 runs through the whole season:

  • in the premiere, “South American Biker Gangs” on September 16, the town’s mayor hopes “things will get better in November” and adds: “That’s when Grand Theft Auto VI comes out.” The line gets passed from character to character
  • in the second episode, “Billionaire Weenietown” on September 30, power outages caused by data centers only become a crisis once residents realize they won’t be able to play GTA 6 or keep their saves
  • in “Guinea Pig on a Stick,” the game’s release is once again the big change that will fix everything, next to a joke about the November 3 midterms

The season runs until November 25, a week after the game comes out, so the joke will most likely be back.

Rockstar in South Park before

  • “Margaritaville,” season 13, March 2009: Cartman turns Kyle in to get a copy of GTA: Chinatown Wars and at one point calls it GTA IV
  • “Grounded Vindaloop,” season 18, November 2014: Cartman convinces Butters he’s in virtual reality, and Butters steals a car GTA-style
  • “Time to Get Cereal” and “Nobody Got Cereal?,” season 22, 2018: Sergeant Yates fights with his wife over a shared save in Red Dead Redemption 2

The show has used real game footage before. In 2006, for the episode “Make Love, Not Warcraft,” Blizzard staff helped film scenes right inside World of Warcraft. And in November 2025, in “Turkey Trot,” Tolkien played ARC Raiders: according to Embark, the show reached out on Monday, got the footage on Tuesday and aired the episode on Wednesday.

GTA 6 comes out November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
