All 39 cheats for Red Dead Redemption, the 2010 original and its 2023 PS4 and Switch and 2024 PC releases. Looking for Red Dead Redemption 2? Its cheats are a different list and don't work here.
The table above has 21 cheat phrases you type in and 18 cheats that every player has had from the start since a 2014 patch.
How to enter Red Dead Redemption cheats
Pause the game and open Options › Cheats. Press the button shown on screen to bring up the keyboard and type the phrase:
- PS4 and PS5: Triangle
- Nintendo Switch: X
- PC: F
- PS3 and Xbox 360 (Xbox One and Series X|S play the 360 version): Triangle or Y
Case doesn't matter, but punctuation does: commas, apostrophes and full stops have to match exactly. Once a phrase is accepted, the cheat appears in the list and you switch it on and off there.
What cheats switch off
While any cheat is on, autosave and achievements and trophies are disabled. Switching the cheat off isn't enough: load a save made before you used cheats. The simplest way is to save at a campfire or your house first, then try cheats.
Cheats unlocked from the start
These 18 cheats used to need a Rockstar Social Club account. After the GameSpy shutdown in 2014, Rockstar released a patch that gave them to every player. You don't type anything: open Options › Cheats and switch them on. They include Every Shot Counts, Gun Set 3 and 4, Punch Out and the three Dead-Eye levels.
Where to find cheat phrases in the game
You don't need to find phrases to use them: type any phrase from the table and it works. In the game itself, nine of them are printed in the Blackwater Ledger newspaper, which you can buy for $1 from newspaper sellers as the story goes on. The rest are carved or painted on walls, boards and buildings around the map.
