The free update for GTA V on PC is now available
Ray tracing, improved performance, new content in GTA Online and more is available now

A free update for GTA V on PC optimizes the game for modern computers and adds content to GTA Online that was previously only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is already available for download on Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam and Epic Games.
The update is not installed on top of the current game, but is downloaded as a separate client. Look for the updated version in your library under the name Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. The classic version of the game is renamed Grand Theft Auto V Legacy and will remain available and supported.
Playing together with friends requires that your versions match.
All players who have previously purchased GTA V on PC will be able to download the update for free and transfer the current progress of the story mode and online play to it. New players will also receive both versions at once - the new (GTAV Enhanced) and classic (GTAV Legacy).
Both versions of the game include all the updates for GTA Online, including the Oscar Guzman Flies Again update released today, where you'll have to take control of McKenzie Field Hangar in Grapeseed.

Transferring GTA V story mode saves

Transferring saves from GTAV Enhanced back to GTAV Legacy is not possible.
GTA Online progress transfer
You will be able to transfer your GTA Online progress from GTAV Legacy to GTAV Enhanced. You can only transfer once and your progress in GTAV Legacy will be saved. You cannot undo the procedure.
The transfer includes your character, GTA$, progress, stats, vehicles, properties, weapons, clothing and player-created jobs. After the transfer, you will be able to continue growing your character on both versions of the game, but your progress will not be synchronized.
For transferring your character's progress you will be rewarded with a Karin S95 sports car, you can pick up the car at Southern San Andreas Super Autos.
Players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can only transfer story mode saves and GTA Online progress to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S respectively. Transferring progress between PlayStation, Xbox and PC is still not possible.
